For the past six months, we have had the pleasure of hosting Theo on an internship from Endress+Hauser, Maulburg. Unfortunately, that time has ended, and Theo will return to Germany after a well-earned holiday in Canada.
Theo is currently part of a cooperative study program with Endress+Hauser and studies Electronics and Information Technology at the University of Konstanz, Germany. We are delighted to have had the opportunity to show Theo a part of life in the Tank Gauging and Terminal Automation industry and to have supported him in his education. In the short time he has been with us, Theo has been a warm presence in the office, regularly participating in lunchtime walks and MHT social events, including a trip to taste Teesside’s finest delicacy, the chicken Parmo! Theo has contributed valuable work with us, including an excellent Load Simulator, which we’ll be showing off at exhibitions in the future.
“I have had the privilege of spending six months as an intern at MHT Technology as part of my study program, and it turned out to be a central element in my personal and academic development. From the beginning, I was embraced with a warm welcome by Debbie, who runs the HR department at MHT, as well as all the other team members, which immediately made me feel part of their family. Throughout my internship, I was working on two challenging projects within the Software and Hardware Department. The practical application of tools and methods previously learned at university in a real-world context significantly improved my understanding of these areas. Moreover, I acquired new working skills and techniques, which I am confident will be useful throughout my future career.
One of the highlights of my experience was the open-door policy at MHT, made possible due to its relatively compact size. My supervisors, Robin and Andrew, were readily accessible, providing feedback and guidance. In addition, the opportunity to work in different departments within the organisation gave me a better understanding of the industry and its various roles and functions. From a cultural perspective, living in the UK was an enriching experience. I took the opportunity to explore the environs of my workplace, including cities such as Edinburgh, Manchester, London, and York. This allowed me to delve deep into British culture, gaining insights into its history, architecture, and gastronomy. Significantly, my time in the UK also improved my English language skills, in both speaking and understanding. Regular interaction with native speakers and exposure to different accents improved my language capabilities considerably. Overall, this experience not only enabled me to discover various cultural nuances but also enhanced my global awareness, cultural sensitivity, and language skills. Living in the UK wasn’t just about work. It also meant making new friends from all over the world who joined me on incredible journeys and made the whole experience even better. We had loads of fun times with my colleagues, thanks to all of the social events that were organised – those memories will stick with me for a long time.
In conclusion, my internship at MHT was a rewarding journey and more than just a professional experience. It has undoubtedly set a solid foundation for my future career, and I am grateful to MHT and Endress+Hauser for offering such an incredible opportunity. I look forward to implementing the skills and knowledge gained during this unforgettable time in my future professional career. I wholeheartedly recommend such internships to fellow students, as this journey will be indeed a significant part of one’s career path.”
We would all like to thank Theo for his hard work while with the company, and we wish him all the best for what will no doubt be a very bright future.
